Cricket Blast this Term
This Term, we have had a blast exploring the world of cricket in PE!
Students have been learning cricket skills, terms, rules, and equipment, with hands-on activities that have made the learning experience more engaging. They especially enjoyed exploring the tactile aspects of the gear, like handling bats, helmets, and batting gloves, and even assembling the wickets!
Students have been introduced to key techniques like batting and bowling, along with throwing and catching. These simple activities have been great for improving coordination and teamwork, while more advanced skills, like holding the bat and underarm/overarm throws, have added new challenges.
We have also made the game even more exciting by modifying the equipment—using water balloons instead of cricket balls and pool noodles and balloons instead of bats. This allowed students to engage with the sport in a fun, unique way.
In addition, we've explored cricket-related terms and names, learned about player positions, and worked on cricket puzzles, matching, and sorting activities. The students also read cricket stories and watched Bluey and Humpty Dumpty play cricket, making the lessons even more interactive.
Cricket has never been more fun, and the students have loved every moment!
